Yes, you can get a tent stake at WalMart for $1.25 (essentially a giant nail), but this stake is worth a look. The bright orange handle helps keep it from getting lost or left behind and the ergonomic shape makes it easy to drive into the ground or hard-pack sand. The burnished steel tip is rounded with no sharp tip, so it's safer to be around when kiting. The shaft is the right diameter; thin enough to drive into a lot of surfaces yet thick enough that you are not going to bend it easily. Yeah, it's worth it.
