We are excited to announce the world's first water-relaunchable kiteboard/ kitesurf trainer.  The Hydra is a 3-line, water relaunchable, closed cell, self-inflating foil on a control bar.  It is as happy on the water as it is on land.

HQ bought the prototype Hydra to Jeckyll Island for our Demo Day in September '08 and we all had a blast with it.  It easy and fun to fly bot on the land in in the surf.  Our local Kitesurf instructor saw the Hydra's value right away- now it's possible for a student to progress from dry land training to body dragging and reverse-launching in the surf without switching kites!  It's now one of his school's favorites.

Think of the Hydra as a baby Neo on a fixed bridle and basic control bar.  The Hydra launches like any other foil and, unlike an LEI (leading edge inflatable ), there are no bladders to pump up or break.  The kite self-inflates during and after launch through two one-way leading edge vents.   A deflation zipper on the upper skin allows for easy pack-up.

The third line that connects to the brake bridle (trailing edge) and allows water re-launching if you crash it upside down, also connects to a safety leash worn on the rider's wrist .  If you get in trouble or get knocked over in the surf, just let go and the kite flags on the trailing edge, killing all power until ready for re-launch. 

Even if you are not training for kiteboarding, it's a great kite to play with on a lake or in the surf.  Experienced kiteboarders will like having something to play with in the surf while waiting for the wind to come up for their big kites.  Their size makes them kid-friendly too in light winds (with supervision).  They will start to fly in light 4-5 mph winds.
