Complete leash and handle-pass system allows for unhooked freestyle maneuvers without becoming completely detached from the kite.  Leash connects to a back strap (cross loop) which runs around the back of the rider and can be mounted in a variety of ways to the spreader bar ends, the bar itself or bar straps.  A safety quick-release mounts to the left or right side of the bar right where you would reach for it.  This system can be mounted on just about any kiteboarding harness. (Picture shows the system mounted on a Peter Lynn harness, not included.)

The back strap is made of heavy Dyneema and is sheathed in vinyl tubing to let it keep its shape, yet is still flexible enough.  The strap is 30" (76 cm) long between mounting points and there are instructions on how to shorten it.

The leash is tubular webbing with a bungee cord inside to keep it short and out of the way when not deployed, yet it stretches easily with the rider when needed.  Relaxed, it is 39" (1 m) long and stretched it is about 76" (almost 2 m).  It has a metal ring on one end for the back strap and a stainless steel quick-clip on the other.
