On hard,irregular surfaces, the knobs of the tread can hook onto projections of the road surface, reducing the tendency to slip. Because kiters have such sideways pull when they go to load up for a jump, the physics-defying grip allows them to hold an edge against the kite harder without slipping out.  They get to put more power into the kite before they jump, which translates into higher jumps. p.s. The tire says "inflate to 60 P.S.I. (410 kPa)  on the side. But, since we test all our equipment out with some of the world's best (and craziest) riders, we've seen it hold up just fine at 120 P.S.I. -- though we explicitly do not recommend for people to try that! You'd have to be crazy like Kody Stewart to inflate the tires that much…. That much pressure, with the speed-gathering design of these tires, combined with a downhill slope just makes for so much speed that it becomes dangerous!  There's nothing wrong with 60 P.S.I. … but if you must go a little higher, the Balistik Mak tires will hold up.  Oh yeah, and wear a helmet and pads!
