A pulley spreader bar lets you run a strop (line between the tops of your 4-line handles) through the pulley to take the load off when flying fixed bridle kites. It is especially useful when going upwind, where the pull can be great and tough on the arms. This requires the use of a harness of course and is only advised for experienced rider that understand the risks of flying "hooked in".
The Prodigy Spreader Bar is fully articulated in both the up and down as well as left-to-right axis and spins as well, so you can untwist the lines after a kiteloop, downturn, or upwind jibe. It also features a plastic tab that helps keep the strop engaged in the pulley when spinning it around or when slack. This is a potentially dangerous feature that makes it harder to unhook and should only be used by those who know what they are getting in to (and know that they can't get out of it).
